MORE EVENT INFO:
Canada Basketball and Rifflandia are bringing W’HOOP IT UP back to Victoria this summer as Canada’s Senior Women’s National Team takes on the defending NCAA Women’s Basketball National Champions, UCLA Women’s Basketball, on July 22, 2026, at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM, with doors opening at 6:00 PM.
The exhibition matchup gives Canadian fans a rare opportunity to watch the nation’s top women’s basketball players compete on home soil as Team Canada prepares for the FIBA Women’s Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament in August.
Victoria has become a key home base for Canada’s Senior Women’s National Team in recent years. Since first arriving in Greater Victoria in 2023, the team has built a strong connection with local basketball fans. The program set a then-record attendance mark during the Rim2Rim exhibition series against Japan in 2023 before surpassing it during W’HOOP IT UP in 2024, when more than 5,000 fans packed Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre to watch Canada take on Portugal.
Currently ranked seventh in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Rankings, Canada enters the summer looking to build momentum on its road toward LA 2028.
Standing in their way will be the UCLA Bruins, fresh off a historic 2025-26 campaign that saw the program capture its first NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball National Championship under Head Coach Cori Close. The game will also mark the Bruins’ first-ever appearance on Canadian soil.
Rifflandia has partnered with Canada Basketball since the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Qualifying Tournament and has helped bring the Senior Women’s National Team to Greater Victoria annually since 2023. Through training camps and exhibition games, the partnership has continued to connect Canadian fans with elite international basketball while further establishing Greater Victoria as a destination for high-performance sport.
Tickets start at $15 plus service charges and go on sale to the public on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 10:00 AM PT.
